About Simona Bonafe
Simona Bonafé (born 24 June 1973 in Varese) is an Italian politician and journalist, currently serving as a member of the Chamber of Deputies. She began her political career in 2002 and served as Councillor for the Environment in Scandicci from 2004 to 2013. Alongside her political work, she was a journalist for Corriere di Firenze and Europa.
Elected to the Italian Parliament in 2013 with the Democratic Party, she became a Member of the European Parliament in 2014 with over 288,000 preferences. As part of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, she served on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, acting as rapporteur on the EU Circular Economy Package and taking part in the 2016 UN Climate Change Conference in Marrakesh. In 2019, she was elected Vice-Chair of the S&D Group. She returned to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in 2022.
