A young woman, identified as Gwendoline Cretton, a 24-year-old Hong Kong national with dual Swiss citizenship, was found dead on 18th July. The incident took place near her residence in Bangkok's Prawet district.
Prior to the incident, neighbours reported hearing a woman screaming at around 6.15pm that evening. The woman’s husband, identified as Wai Kit, who had tied the knot with Gwendoline earlier this year, along with two companions, carried her out of their residence and swiftly left the scene. These events were captured by nearby surveillance cameras.
While Wai Kit claimed that his girlfriend had taken her own life, local authorities have cast doubts on his account. The police have shifted their focus towards a potential murder investigation, as preliminary findings suggest foul play.
During initial questioning by the police, Wai Kit insisted that Gwendoline had committed suicide. However, after a thorough examination of the crime scene and a review of the surveillance footage, various inconsistencies were discovered, leading investigators to believe that this may indeed be a case of homicide. As a result, Wai Kit has become a person of interest and is currently under intensive investigation.
