Ekaterina was an well known russian blogger and Instagramer used to post travel and fashion pics/news to her 80000 followers from that time.
After a date she vanished for some days. Her body was found stuffed in a suitcase the following days. A man, self entitled a "sugar daddy", was soon arrested and condemned for her murder.
Ekaterina Karaglanova, 24, was discovered after her family became suspicious as they had been unable to contact her for several days.
A suspect has confessed to her murder, according to Russian police.
In a video released by the Public Prosecutor's Office, Maxim Gareyev says he stabbed Karaglanova "at least five times in the neck and chest."
In the video, released by Russia's Investigative Committee, Gareyev, 33, told police that he attacked Karaglanova, with whom he says he had an intimate relationship, after she "repeatedly insulted and humiliated him."
Karaglanova had over 85,000 followers on Instagram and had recently graduated in Medicine.
She had recently started a new relationship and was planning a trip to the Netherlands to celebrate her birthday on July 30th, according to the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK).
Unable to contact her in the days leading up to her trip, her parents contacted the owner of the apartment where Karaglanova lived and requested access. There they found a suitcase with her body inside in the hallway. Her father called an ambulance, but she was already dead, with her throat cut.
Police said there was no evidence of any struggle having occurred in the apartment, and no weapons were found at the scene, Moskovsky Komsomolets reported.
Officers had previously stated that security camera footage showed a former boyfriend of Karaglanova visiting her home in the days leading up to her disappearance.
The suspect who confessed to the murder, Gareyev, said he gave Karaglanova money whenever they met, and that she began mocking him at their last meeting.
"She told me I was ugly and that even plastic surgery wouldn't help me," he said, adding that she told him it would take him a year to save enough money for them to meet again.
"I couldn't take it anymore," he added.
Karaglanova had started a new relationship when she was killed.
