In April 1974, Lupo became a Playboy Bunny at Playboy's Great Gorge Resort hotel in McAfee, New Jersey. After working for several months, Lupo was approached by several photographers to pose for Playboy's Playmate of the Month. At the first, Lupo rejected the opportunity.

In March 1975, Lupo was given another Playmate opportunity by photographer Pompeo Posar. Lupo agreed and became Playmate of the Month for November 1975. Lupo's family had mixed reactions to her posing in Playboy magazine. Right away, Lupo began traveling and promoting Playboy around the United States, Canada and Japan. After the promotions, Lupo began working as a bartender in her friend's husband's restaurant.

However bust size does not show cup size, as that is the result of the difference of band size and bust size. Thus bust size measurements are notoriously inconsistent and difficult to compare ("like comparing cantaloupes to coconuts"), so breast fetishists may never have a conclusive answer to this conundrum. She is still considered one of the most famous and most beautiful of all the big-breasted women who have ever posed for Playboy over the years. She has often been compared to Petra Verkaik, Miss December 1989.
