About Diana Spencer
Diana was a member of the British royal family. She was the first wife of Charles III (then Prince of Wales) and mother of Princes William and Harry. Her activism and glamour made her an international icon and earned her enduring popularity. Diana came from a noble British family with deep ties to the royal household. As the youngest daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Althorp (later Earl and Countess Spencer), she grew up on the family estate at Park House, near the Queen’s residence. Diana received her education at private schools in England and Switzerland but did not pursue university. Instead, she worked as a nanny and kindergarten assistant in London.
Her life changed dramatically in 1980 when she began a relationship with Charles, Prince of Wales. The couple married on July 29, 1981, in a fairy-tale wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral watched by an estimated 750 million people worldwide. Diana became the Princess of Wales and instantly one of the most famous women on the planet. As Princess of Wales, Diana used her immense popularity to champion numerous charitable causes, most notably work with landmine victims, AIDS patients, and the homeless. She was known for her warmth, hands-on approach—famously shaking hands with an AIDS patient in the 1980s when fear was widespread—and her willingness to break royal protocol.
Diana and Charles had two sons, Prince William (born 1982) and Prince Harry (born 1984), who became central to her life. However, the marriage was troubled almost from the beginning, plagued by infidelity on both sides, intense media scrutiny, and Diana’s well-documented struggles with bulimia and depression. The couple formally separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
After her divorce, Diana continued her humanitarian efforts and sought a more independent life. Tragically, on August 31, 1997, she died in a high-speed car crash in Paris while being pursued by paparazzi, along with her companion Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. Her death at age 36 provoked an outpouring of global grief.
Diana remains one of the most beloved and photographed figures of the 20th century, remembered as the “People’s Princess” for her compassion and ability to connect with ordinary people. Her legacy continues powerfully through her sons, particularly William’s work with mental health and Harry’s charitable initiatives.
She is the mother-in-law of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, and her neices are Lady Kitty Spencer and Lady Spencer Twins

She was only 36? I just turned 39 and feel young (no kids may be the reason). And she was gorgeous, actually representing the fantasy princess in real life. Don't know much about her, but I understand that many respected her.

It is an absolute surprise to find one of the greatest princesses of all time listed on this site. She wasn't just a princess, she was a goddess and an angel for all of the good that she did for the world.
