She was seen on surveillance video in a doughnut shop licking doughnuts that were on display and saying "I hate Americans. I hate America. This is disgusting", referring to a tray of doughnuts. She didn't buy or even pay for the donuts.
She alters her skin tone, makeup, or dialect to appropriate different racial backgrounds.
In 2019, she partnered with Starbucks to launch a signature beverage called the Cloud Macchiato. She promoted the drink on social media using her signature cloud emojis and explicitly told her fans to "#trythesoyversion". Which would be perfectly fine had it actually been vegan but it was quickly discovered that the key ingredient used to create the drink's fluffy texture was a cloud powder made of egg whites, and the caramel drizzle contained condensed milk, butter, and cream. Since she helped create the drink she'd know exactly what
was in it.
Because the base recipe fundamentally relied on animal products, the drink couldn't actually be made vegan even if a customer swapped regular milk for soy milk. She used her platform to endorse a dairy-and-egg heavy beverage while publicly maintaining a vegan lifestyle.
She made a statement referring to people drinking cows milk. "I think cow's milk makes Americans look like cows"
She spouts off about her being 100% vegan and yet wears luxury clothing items made of genuine leather, animal fur, suede, and feathers during public events, red carpets, and music videos. If she was truly 100% vegan she'd know true veganism extends beyond food to rejecting all forms of animal exploitation, including apparel makeup.
Her makeup line, r.e.m. beauty, is marketed as 100% vegan and cruelty-free. However, she previously fronted major fashion campaigns for brands that actively sell leather goods or test products on animals.
The interviews for Wicked were even worse, both Ariana Grande and co-star Cynthia Erivio often talked about spoke about the filming process as if they had survived an grueling, harrowing ordeal. They'd break down in tears while intensely holding hands claiming they were "holding space" for each other. They were getting paid millions of dollars, staying in five-star luxury, and wearing custom designer gowns while acting as though they had endured severe, systemic hardship. In another interview Erivo said that they were "holding on by threads" due to the exhaustion of a 400-day press tour. A press tour they signed up for and could have said no at any time. Also neither of them know anything about holding on by a thread.
