YouTube has had usernames for a long time just like other social media platforms, but the editor still requires the full URL. It's kind of weird and annoying that we have to paste the whole link when just adding the username would be enough, exactly like on other social networks.

I don't have an opinion on this, but isn't it almost easier to just copy the whole URL? I don't understand.

@Suxuli you realise you can just use the URL "https://www.youtube.com/@"; and then use their username and that works as well?

@Suxuli You’re right that YouTube usernames make things easier, but I think the bigger issue is how many members have editing access on Babepedia. A lot of editors don’t fully understand how YouTube URLs work, so they just copy whatever is currently in the address bar — which is usually a video link, not the creator’s actual channel.

That’s how we end up with links like: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkgA3-8z9wo ]

Instead of the correct channel link, such as: [ https://www.youtube.com/@olandria ]

So the problem isn’t really the URL format itself. It’s that editors often paste the wrong thing because they’re copying the page they’re on, not the page they intend to link.
