Ok so a while ago I suggested profile pics that folks could upload. Well, I was told that it could be risky, so I am going to suggest perhaps a pick from premade ones made by Babepedia. Users can at any time pick a premade one from a list of them. If they pick one and get bored of it they can swap it out. I think starting out with a few simple ones would be a good start to this. Such as a smiley with sunglasses giving a thumbs up or something. Then maybe perhaps make one like a sporting event foam finger with the Babepedia "B" on it. Much safer and it gives people a way to different themselves more.

It sounds like a bit of work for us, designing a set of suitable, pre-made profile pictures.
Perhaps supporting Gravatars is a better solution here. Have you considered that alternative?

I like your original proposal better, although I think it should be limited to the actual person.

I fully agree with the idea of having the option to choose our own avatars on the website. If it were up to me, this option would have been available a long time ago. Personally, I do not see any issue with users selecting something directly from their own computers; this is common across many websites. However, some form of review might be necessary for the avatars users wish to use. Highly explicit content or anything depicting heinous acts would understandably not be accepted. On the other hand, images that pose no risk or harm to anyone seem perfectly appropriate to me. This would add more life to the website, not to mention that the avatar image could also appear in the comments section. In my view, it would make everything visually more appealing.
