It looks odd when the maximum 16 photos is reached in the user-uploaded section. A profile page would look much better if there were 6 complete rows. It's not a huge increase adding plus 2 photos per profile reaching a total maximum of 22.

I agree, but the site seems to be creeking under the current load.

This is an old idea. We have since increased it to 20, but only for top contributors.

kerekp, you say it would be better to have 18 photos, but it's important to keep in mind that not everyone has the same screen resolution as you. The most common desktop resolution (1920×1080) shows 4 columns. At 16 or 20 photos, that's 4 or 5 rows.

However, if this idea scores higher, we will tweak it, making the images slightly smaller to fit 4 across on smaller desktop screens (1200 to 1600px width).

No, as the limit is already higher as you move up the contributor ranks.

I am fine with the current number of pictures, as long as they are arranged uniformly at the most common resolutions. Since the number of images per row depends on both resolution and aspect ratio, my 3200x2000 screen displays 3 images per row instead of the 4 seen on 16:9 displays. It would be perfect if the page automatically detected the aspect ratio and shrank the images so that exactly 4 fit in a row.
