About Yasmin Le Bon

Inès Yasmin Le Bon, born Yasmin Parvaneh on October 29, 1964, in Oxford, England, grew up in a middle-class family with an Iranian father, Iradj Parvaneh, and an English mother, Patricia, blending Persian and British heritage. She attended Cherwell School in Oxford, completing her secondary education but forgoing further studies to pursue modeling. Known in the industry as “Yasmin” or “Yassy,” she was discovered at 17 in 1981 by a scout from Elliot Brown agency while working part-time at an Oxford boutique. Initially modeling locally for small businesses and hand modeling, she joined Models 1 Agency in London in 1983 after graduating, despite arriving at their office “soaking wet and dressed like a boy,” as she recalled, marking her entry into the global fashion scene.

Yasmin’s modeling career soared in the 1980s, making her one of the era’s highest-earning supermodels and a key figure among the original “Supermodels.” Signed with Models 1 (London) for over 30 years, she also worked with Elite Model Management and Trump Model Management. She walked for Versace, Chanel, Dior, Azzedine Alaïa, Valentino, and Ralph Lauren, notably wearing a 50 kg gown at Stéphane Rolland’s 2012 Haute Couture show. Her editorial portfolio includes over 400 magazine covers, including the inaugural issues of American and British Elle, 31 Elle covers, three Italian Vogue covers, and 10 international Harper’s Bazaar editions, with campaigns for Calvin Klein, Guess (1987), and Biotherm. A favorite of photographers like Horst, Demarchelier, and Lindbergh, she earned millions at her peak, solidifying her status as a fashion icon.

Yasmin maintains a modest social media presence, with around 100,000 Instagram followers (@yasminlebon), sharing modeling work, family moments, and advocacy for causes like breast cancer prevention. Her mainstream career includes acting roles in the BBC’s Sex & Chocolate (1997) and Hunting Venus (1999) alongside her husband, Simon Le Bon, and starring in Duran Duran’s “Girl Panic!” music video (2011) with Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. She appeared on Australia’s 20 to 1: Sizzling Superstars (2009) and hosts The Model Podcast with Models 1, launched in 2025, discussing fashion industry insights. Her design ventures include clothing lines for Wallis, Winser London (2016), and dog accessories for Mungo & Maud, while her charity work for the Rainforest Foundation and pediatric medicine enhances her public profile.

At 5’9” (175 cm) with measurements of 34-25-35 inches, Yasmin Le Bon possesses a slender, elegant frame, long chestnut hair, and captivating hazel eyes that exude an enigmatic, ethnically ambiguous allure. Her chiseled cheekbones, radiant skin, and poised demeanor made her a standout in the 1980s, challenging the era’s blue-eyed blonde ideal. Her sex appeal lies in her sultry sophistication and versatile look, adaptable from haute couture to casual streetwear. Karl Lagerfeld called her “a vision of timeless beauty,” while Vogue praised her “intriguing, exotic charm” that captivated designers like Alaïa and Valentino. Her distinctive features and confident runway presence earned her the title “the face of the ’80s” by Harper’s Bazaar.

Yasmin has faced few controversies, though she revealed in 2025 that her modeling career caused chronic back pain and periods of depression due to demanding physical shoots, like “balletic leaps in stilettos.” She also spoke of avoiding predatory behavior in the industry, crediting her strong personality for keeping her safe, stating, “I never gave an inch.” Her sexuality is reported as straight, and she married Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon in 1985, with whom she has three daughters: Amber (born 1989), Saffron (born 1991), and Tallulah (born 1994). Her net worth is estimated at $10–15 million, driven by modeling, design collaborations, and endorsements. Critics occasionally note her focus on family over career, but her resilience and advocacy for model welfare have earned respect.

At 60 in 2025, Yasmin Le Bon’s legacy as a pioneering supermodel endures, celebrated for her longevity and influence in redefining beauty standards. On platforms like models.com, fans call her an “eternal icon,” with one commenter noting, “Yasmin’s elegance and strength made her a trailblazer.” Her 2013 quote to Vogue, “Style is about authenticity,” reflects her ethos. Currently, she lives in southwest London, appearing in Fendi’s A/W 2025 show and F Magazine cover, and serves as an ambassador for Gold Collagen’s Forte Ageless supplement. Her ongoing work with The Model Podcast, design collaborations, and advocacy for breast cancer and environmental causes solidify her as a multifaceted figure in fashion and philanthropy.

Another of the biggest supermodels of the 80's and 90's. I remember her on the cover of the Spring/Summer 1989 Great Universal catalogue and the Spring/Summer 1989 Marshall Ward catalogue.
