About Tanya Roberts
Tanya Roberts (born Victoria Leigh Blum; October 15, 1955) is an American actress best known for her roles in Charlie's Angels, The Beastmaster, A View to a Kill, Sheena and That '70s Show. Roberts was regarded as one of Hollywood's most popular sex symbols during the early 1980s.
Roberts was born in The Bronx of Irish and Jewish descent. Her father was an ink pen salesman. Her parents divorced when she was a teenager. She lived with her mother in Toronto for several years, where she started formulating a photo portfolio and laying plans for a career. At age 15, she abandoned her studies to marry and lived for a while hitch-hiking across the United States, until her mother-in-law annulled the union.
She returned to New York City and became a fashion and cover model. After meeting a psychology student, Barry Roberts (while waiting in line for a movie), she proposed to him in a subway station and they were soon married. While Barry pursued a career as a screenwriter, she began to study at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen.

(Addendum: Beyond her role in CHARLIE'S ANGELS, she is probably best known from the James Bond franchise as "Bond Girl" Stacey Sutton, which really IS a departure from the tradition of Bond Girl names being some sort of pun or double entendre! Congratulations on breaking the mold, Tanya!)

As a preteen, I remember the movie Sheena came out and it was rated PG despite two nude scenes. The scenes weren’t sexual in nature, but was enough for my young self to get a hard on from it. Back then we had a VCR and I used to slow motion that scene at the lake and just jack myself silly. I spewed gallons to that scene, Kelly Lebrock’s bush scene in The Woman In Red and Kelly Preston’s sex scene in Mischief. Damn those 80s women were hot and so were the movies.

I never watched Charlie's Angels when it was on TV, and I don't think the 5th and final series that Tanya was in came to the UK anyway, and I've not seen her in anything else, so the first time I saw her was only recently when we watched all 5 seasons of the show. It's a shame that it ended when it did because she and her character were just coming into their own. A really lovely looking woman; rest in peace.
