About Penelope Houston
Penelope Houston is an American singer, songwriter and musician. She is the vocalist and main songwriter for the Avengers, one of the leading West Coast punk bands of the 70s. The Avengers famously opened for the Sex Pistols at their final concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Following the dissolution of the Avengers, Houston embarked on a solo career in which she left punk behind in favor of a more folk rock/Americana sound, although the Avengers have reunited multiple times over the years.
In addition to music, Houston has maintained a successful career as a visual artist and painter. Among her more notable works was a series of paintings based on antique mugshots.
