About Lana Lokteff

Lana Jennifer Palmgren (née Lokteff) is an American right-wing media personality, commentator, and co-host associated with the independent media company Red Ice. She hosts the interview program Radio 3Fourteen and appears on Red Ice’s livestreams and video programming with her husband, Swedish presenter Henrik Palmgren.

Lokteff became one of the more visible women in the mid-2010s online milieu often called the “alt-right.” She presents her work as European identitarian commentary: opposition to mass immigration and multiculturalism, support for ancestral European traditions, and a defense of traditional sex roles. Watchdog groups and much of the mainstream press instead describe her and Red Ice as white nationalist or white supremacist outlets. Those characterizations are disputed by Lokteff, who frames the work as advocacy for European peoples rather than hatred of others.

Lokteff was born in Oregon and is of Russian descent. She has said her parents were immigrants whose family fled the Bolsheviks; some profiles add that the family later passed through China, where her father was born. She has an older brother, Joseph (Joe) Lokteff.

In high school she listened to Coast to Coast AM, Art Bell’s late-night program known for paranormal and conspiracy guests. She planned to study physics and philosophy at Portland State University but left without completing a degree.

In the early 2000s the Lokteff family ran Piggyback Records, a small home label and studio in Oregon. Lokteff and her brother performed as the duo Thirty Day Notice, with Lokteff on vocals. She is also credited on the 2004 album Magdalene’s Dream on that label. She spent time in Los Angeles pursuing entertainment work, including modeling, then returned to Oregon. After the label faltered she traveled overseas, including a period in Fiji, where she encountered Red Ice, then a Swedish web project run by Palmgren. She later launched a small organic clothing line, Lana’s Llama. Her own site describes her interests as European identity politics, ancestral traditions, and health.

Red Ice was founded in Sweden around 2002–2003 by Henrik Palmgren. For roughly its first decade the site covered alternative and conspiratorial subjects: UFOs, 9/11, Freemasonry, the Illuminati, and related topics. Around 2012 the editorial focus moved toward race, immigration, and what the couple described as rising “anti-white” sentiment in Western media and politics, coinciding with the rise of Black Lives Matter and debates over European migration. Lokteff joined Palmgren’s operation after contacting him about his work; they married in 2011 and have co-presented since. Guests over the years have included figures across the dissident right and identitarian spectrum, among them Lauren Southern, Faith Goldy, and writers associated with Counter-Currents. Critics highlight interviews with Holocaust revisionists such as David Cole and Mark Weber as evidence of antisemitism; Lokteff has said questioning official Holocaust figures is not the same as hatred of Jews.

By 2017 Red Ice had on the order of 130,000 YouTube subscribers; by October 2019 the main channel had about 335 thousand subscribers and tens of millions of views. The Southern Poverty Law Center and similar organizations treat Red Ice as an important node in what they call a YouTube “radicalization pipeline.” Supporters treat it as one of the longer-running independent European-identitarian media shops.

Lokteff’s public positions, stated in talks, interviews, and Red Ice programming. She argues that European-descended populations in Europe, North America, and Australia are being demographically displaced by non-European immigration, and that this is neither accidental nor morally obligatory. She has described herself as a “true refugee” by family history while criticizing contemporary asylum systems as economic migration dressed as humanitarianism. She is a sharp critic of contemporary feminism, which she says pushed women into careers at the expense of family and left many childless and unhappy. She argues that men and women are complementary rather than interchangeable: men as protectors and public actors, women as mothers and cultural transmitters. After Donald Trump’s 2016 election she became a frequent speaker on recruiting women to identitarian politics. At the Identitarian Ideas conference in Stockholm she said, “It was women that got Trump elected and, I guess, to be really edgy, it was women that got Hitler elected.” Critics treat the line as fascist nostalgia; she presented it as a point about female electoral influence.

She has said most women want to be attractive, marry a capable man, and have children, and that identitarian circles were producing “beautiful, intelligent couples,” a remark *New York* magazine glossed as eugenic. She has also said alt-right men should love and protect women rather than disdain them, and that the media caricature of nationalist women as unpaid servants is false.

Mainstream profiles state that she has questioned the Holocaust death toll and Native American genocide narratives and has platformed revisionist historians. Those claims are among the main grounds on which journalists and the Anti-Defamation League call her antisemitic. She identifies as a pagan rather than a Christian or a National Socialist, and emphasizes Slavic as well as broader European ancestry—a point critics sometimes use to call her views internally inconsistent with historical Nazism.

YouTube banned Red Ice’s main channel in October 2019 for hate-speech policy violations. A backup channel was removed about a week later. Facebook banned the operation in November 2019. Red Ice and Lokteff called the removals political censorship and said the channel was growing because it was reaching people. Content moved to the Red Ice site, a members portal, BitChute, Odysee/LBRY, Rumble, Telegram, VK, and similar platforms. Payment processors have also restricted the company at various times.

Lokteff married Henrik Palmgren in 2011. They have three children. She has lived in Oregon, Sweden, and, as of 2020, Charleston, South Carolina; her own site has described splitting time between Sweden and the United States. She identifies as a pagan. She has said she has been harassed and threatened by men inside nationalist scenes as well as by opponents.

Lana and Henrik are the real deal... They don't do it for the money, to put it lightly.
