About Ilaria Caprioglio
Ilaria Caprioglio, born on February 4, 1969, in Varazze, Italy, is a politician, former model, and author. She served as the mayor of Savona from 2016 to 2021, becoming the first woman to hold the position in the city’s history.
Caprioglio began her career as an international model from 1988 to 1993, working in Los Angeles, Paris, Munich, and Milan, and appearing in various advertising campaigns. She later earned a law degree from the University of Milan in 1996, completed legal and notarial training, and became a qualified lawyer and civil mediator.
As an author, she has published works including Senza limiti and Corpi senza peso, focusing on social issues such as respect, inclusion, and eating disorders. She co-founded the association “Mi nutro di vita” and created the National Lilla Ribbon Day to raise awareness of eating disorders.
After her term as mayor, Caprioglio focused on sustainability and public administration training, contributed to health initiatives on addiction, and collaborated with the CONI Prosecutor’s Office on athlete safeguarding policies. She also writes on ESG topics for Wall Street Italia and returned to modeling in 2022 as a silver model. In 2023, she launched a sustainable tourism project, Italian Design Apartments, honoring her grandmother Ida’s legacy.
