About Hannah Fry

Hannah is a South London-based mathematician, author and broadcaster. She is Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Determined to explode the stereotype that maths is boring, Hannah frames it in populist ways that laypeople can understand and she does so with an impish grin. Hannah is also a fellow of Queens' College, Cambridge, and president of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. She was previously a professor at University College London.
Aged 36, Hannah was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent a radical hysterectomy. A radical hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the uterus, cervix, and surrounding tissues, including part of the vagina, and may also include the removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes, as well as pelvic lymph nodes.
