About Gwenno Saunders
Gwenno Saunders is a Welsh-Cornish musician. She has received critical acclaim in the UK with albums of psychedelic Krautrock and Shoegaze-influenced indie rock recorded in Welsh and Cornish. Her debut solo album, Y Dydd Olaf, was a science fiction concept album based on a 1976 sci-fi novel of the same name by Welsh author Owain Owain and won the Welsh Music Prize. She next recorded albums in the Cornish language, Le Kov and Tresor, which was nominated for the UK's most prestigious musical honor, the Mercury Award.
Prior to her solo work, Gwenno was a member of the acclaimed retro-girl group the Pipettes with Rose Elinor Dougall and Rebecca "RiotBecki" Stephens. The Pipettes gained cult popularity for their clever updating of classic girl group tropes on songs like "Pull Shapes" and "Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me."
