Missy Manners, née Elisa Florez, was formerly a United States Senate Page, receptionist for Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch, and daughter of the Undersecretary of Education during the administration of George H. W. Bush.

In 1985, the Mitchell brothers, Jim and Artie, made the film "Behind the Green Door: The Sequel", the sequel to the 1973 XXX film classic "Behind the Green Door" that had been long-awaited—and often postponed.

Though Elisa was in a relationship with porn producer Artie Mitchell, she maintains that she actually had to audition for the lead role in the film, a claim which many who were significantly involved in the project disputed, as she cast herself as Gloria, the focal character of the film. The film was unusual in that it was 100% safe sex with condoms, dental dams, and gloves and no skin to skin contact. There were no cum shots. The lesbian gang bang scene, which was a remake from the first film, was faked with another actress getting fingered since Florez felt uncomfortable performing with women.

Elisa's links to Republican party officials were emphasized in publicity for the film in much the same fashion as her predecessor, Marilyn Chambers, who had modeled for Ivory Snow. The film was made at the height of the 1980s AIDS epidemic, and the Mitchells had hope there would be mainstream coverage due to its safe sex theme. Florez also did a Playboy pictorial to promote the film. Florez had hoped the film would launch her into superstardom like it had Chambers. But the reviews of the film were poor. Critics said that Florez was very attractive with a good body, but she was not helped by being in a movie completely devoid of eroticism or sexuality. The porn chic era was over and the Mitchells made a movie that simply didn't deliver on what porn fans wanted in the mid-80s. Al Goldstein of Screw magazine said the movie was great for safe sex since no one wanted to masturbate while watching it. He also savaged Florez by saying that Missy Manners was no Marilyn Chambers. Florez was mostly embarrassed by the reviews and ended her porn career, as this would be her only movie.
