Appeal Community Decision

With Community Moderation going at such a blazing speed (for example, Case #5584 was reported, voted on, had a rude comment made on it, and closed in less than fifteen minutes), I feel like there ought to be a mechanism whereby the User who made the report could request that an Admin review the decision. There would have to be limits (or community moderation would be pointless), but WOW some of these cases are being resolved so quickly that the User who made the report doesn’t even have time to reply to a comment.

I agree. And I think appealing should be possible both from the submitter and from people who disagree with the community decision. To me it looks like some people just click "Approve" by default.

This evening, my browser couldn’t even keep up. I’d click “open in new tab” on View Context, and in the fifteen seconds it took me to 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘 at the context, nope, that case has already closed and the page is reloading. I think a lot of users aren’t moderating, they’re just button-pushing.

Agreed. Maybe a minimum of 24 hours, and a timestamp, and a quorum of votes, say, at least 10

@GeekBoy3: Whatever we do, it will always be possible to see a case only seconds before it closes.

But we hear your feedback. We'll add something that allows an appeal. We are already reachable via email, and some users have done this, but we'll integrate it into the system.

Agree 100% with other folks suggesting pumping the brakes on how quickly cases get decided. Several times I've been writing a comment on a case to ask for clarification or reasoning on why a particular post is "Irrelevant" or a " Personal Attack" or "Racist" and by the time I hit submit the case is already closed.

Oh, also just noticed there have been numerous posts removed with 0-0-9 votes, seemingly in a matter of minutes. With nearly 180K users on the site maybe another look at the scoring system might be in order, especially when a tiny number of Contributors hold such a ginormous editorial hammer

@Lalalamn I agree on both your points. As I already mentioned, Cases (often without close to the requisite votes when I first see them) are getting closed in less time than it takes to “View in Context” and then return to the Contribute page. I presume it would never be implemented, but imagine how much slower the cases would turn over if Users were required to “View In Context” before voting? But that’s a pipe dream.

We've been told to e-mail about cases we disagree with. That is, frankly, too much effort.

@Pryda Look at Case #6292. How does a badly edited photo like this get approved as a main photo?
The lower ass cheek almost looks like it was added on in photoshop.

@Pingupop: Email is a temporary solution to allow flexibility and us to ask questions back.

I don't see anything wrong with the new photo in #6292. That photo looks real to me, not edited.
