Once added to their favorites, each user should be able to choose the main image to display in their gallery

I understand this appeals to some, but I'm voting it down because of the complexity of development and its low appeal to the general public (I think). I'll leave it open so others can give their opinion and vote. I've edited your title to make it clearer.

The option to customize a user's profile page like this would be greatly appreciated—at least by me. I can't speak for other users, but the absence of features like this is disappointing.

Creating lists seems to be one of the main reasons, if not the main reason, to create an account on this site, yet there's very little you can do with them besides reorder them. More profile customization and list-related features would make the site more interesting to use over a longer period of time.
