It should be changed from 'Football Player' to 'Footballer'.

American football = Football player

European/Association football = Footballer

If there are few female American (or Australian) football players, it is better to use the generic Sportswoman

@reydelfuego1 The word "soccer" was invented by the English in the late 19th century, as slang for "association football". So acting like "it's just the US that says this" is false.
