Giving trusted members the ability to delete comments.

I think members with this ability can clean up the place. I'm not sure if it's possible to just give us that ability while sectioning off the other abilities solely for the higher ups. But i'm hoping it can be done.

Ok, let's talk about this one. It's not a good idea to give every trusted member access to delete any comment they deem offensive. People have different views, and what's acceptable to one person isn't to another.

A more balanced version is to let trusted members flag comments. These then go to a new page with flagged comments, where others can choose to agree or disagree. After 2 or 3 agree votes, it goes down. Any disagree vote counts as a veto.

Simply put... you're asking for trouble with this idea. Just because you don't like or agree with someone's comment, you shouldn't have the ability to censure it. And... what criteria do you use to determine who a "trusted member" is.

Who is a "higher up"? For instance Pryda, you know I already have an issue with certain members that thumbs down every single comment I make. I say " she's thin but pretty" and there are about five members give me a thumbs down! Very shortly with this system it will be a complete room full of back strangers for you to deal with! I've worked hard to censure my comments and not hurt feelings but if other members earn the right to erase my creative writing, some of which I'm proud of, what's the sense in commenting at all. I know it's a lot to lay on the administrators but members will NOT be objective in my opinion. And I have to admit, that would honestly include myself I imagine. I have a few haters I might have a hard time turning the other cheek to! I DO NOT LIKE THIS IDEA!

@Just_Big: Users with a high level of contributions get "trusted/top contributor" status, which is visible on their profile page. This is a minority of users. Typically, only users who've been around for years. Of course, we'd be monitoring things too.

@Oldsocalpunk: If someone is targeting you with multiple accounts, I doubt any of those accounts have the contributor status needed to get that deletion through.

Not saying this is going to happen, just brainstorming 😊
