Kobe Tai, born Carla Scott Carter on January 15, 1972, in Taipei, Taiwan, was adopted by an American family in 1974 and raised in a small town in Arkansas after living in San Diego for three years. Of Chinese and Japanese descent, she grew up in a strict military household, excelling in high school as captain of the cheerleading squad, a member of the drill team, and a participant in softball, basketball, and track. She attended the University of Arkansas, where her outgoing personality and childhood dream of becoming a broadcaster like Connie Chung shaped her early ambitions.
