Yana Zaytseva (Russian: Яна Зайцева; born 25 February 2004) is a Russian track and field athlete who competes primarily in the combined events, as well as the high jump and hurdles. Her World Athletics profile lists her disciplines as the high jump, 100 metres hurdles, 60 metres hurdles and multi-event competitions, including the pentathlon and heptathlon. She has competed mainly in Russian national competitions and represents a generation of athletes who developed through the country’s junior athletics system.
Zaytseva began attracting attention at junior level through both individual and relay competition. In September 2021, she was part of the Saint Petersburg team that won the girls’ 4 × 100 metres hurdles relay at the Russian U18 Championships in Adler. Together with Daria Kazakova, Marina Vasyuk and Anastasia Surkova, the quartet recorded a winning time of 1:00.10, establishing Zaytseva as a successful national-level junior hurdler while she continued developing as a combined-events athlete.
Her versatility has subsequently become one of the defining features of her athletics career. According to World Athletics, Zaytseva has recorded a personal best of 1.76 metres in the high jump, first achieved in Adler in September 2023 and matched indoors in Kirov in February 2024. Her recorded bests also include 14.32 seconds in the 100 metres hurdles, 8.87 seconds in the indoor 60 metres hurdles, and 3,742 points in the short-track pentathlon. These performances reflect the range of sprinting, jumping and technical abilities required for combined-event competition.
Zaytseva has continued competing at senior national level while also appearing in relay events. At the 2024 Russian Relay Championships, she formed part of Saint Petersburg’s 4 × 100 metres hurdles team alongside Daria Medenko, Ekaterina Galitskaya and Tatiana Danielyan, with the team recording 58.96 seconds. Her career remains centered on athletics, particularly the heptathlon and related hurdle and jumping disciplines, and she continues to appear in Russian national competition as a multi-event athlete.
