About Svenja Van Beek
Svenja van Beek (born 2 November 1987) is a Dutch singer, model and interior designer, best known as one of the original members of the pop girl group Djumbo. Van Beek formed the group in 2004 alongside Lotte Prijs and Lindsy Schuman after the three were discovered through a dance school in Eindhoven. Djumbo developed a distinctive Dutch-English pop style and became particularly popular with younger audiences in the Netherlands. Van Beek remained with the group until 2011, when she left after seven years to pursue other professional interests.
During Van Beek's time in Djumbo, the group released four studio albums: Jump (2005), Spotlight (2007), Magic (2008) and Chase (2010). Their repertoire included singles such as “Hide and Seek”, “Eyahe”, “Undercover”, “Boy I Like Ya”, “Boyz & Girlz”, “Summertime in Dubai” and “Chase”. In addition to recording and touring, Djumbo appeared regularly on Dutch television and hosted the pop and entertainment game show Kies je ster for TROS in 2009 and 2010. Van Beek was replaced by Samantha Klumper following her departure from the group in early 2011.
Alongside her music career, Van Beek also worked professionally as a model, an activity she continued for several years after leaving Djumbo. She has been represented by international modeling agencies and has worked in commercial, fashion and lifestyle photography. Her professional modeling profile lists her at 174 cm tall, with dark-blond hair and blue-green or green eyes, and she has remained active within the European modeling industry.
Van Beek later expanded her career into interior design. In 2022, she founded Studio Musmuki, a full-service interior design studio based in Amsterdam. The studio specializes in residential interiors characterized by natural materials, warm tones, layered textures and a restrained contemporary aesthetic. Van Beek serves as the studio's founder and designer, marking a transition from her earlier work in music and modeling toward a professional career in spatial and interior design while maintaining a public creative presence.
