Summer Bartholomew is a former beauty pageant contestant and winner. After winning two local pageants, both in 1973, she won the Miss California pageant in 1975. In May of that same year she became Miss USA after winning that competition. She was the 2nd runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant that followed in July of 1975. The winner that year was Finland’s Anne Marie Pohtamo and first runner-up was Haiti’s Gerthie David.

In 1977 she was a hostess for the third annual “People’s Choice Awards”
Summer later became a game show hostess. In 1982 she had a brief stint as the hostess and letter turner on “Wheel of Fortune”. In 1984 she became the hostess of the game show, “Sale of the Century”, with host, Jim Perry. Her stint on that show lasted until 1989.

In 1988 Summer appeared (in an uncredited role) in the music video for “Look Away” by the band Chicago. Her only movie role was in the 1982 film, “Love is Forever”, starring Michael Landon and Priscilla Presley.

Summer officially retired from show business in 1993.
