Karen Anne Cook (23 November 1987 – 30 November 2023), known professionally as "Sophie Anderson", was a British adult film actress, fetish and glamour model, and internet personality. Anderson began appearing in adult films for studios such as Fake Taxi and Evil Angel in 2017. She gained significant online recognition in October 2018 when she and fellow adult film actress Rebecca More, who referred to themselves as "The Cock Destroyers," shared a viral video. Their content became popular internet memes, earning them the status of "gay icons" within the LGBTQ+ community. This prominence led them to co-star in the Men.com series Slag Wars: The Next Destroyer in 2020. Anderson has appeared on various podcasts to discuss her experiences and was a team captain on the Canadian OutTV sex education quiz show Fucking Smart from 2022 to 2023.


Early Life:

Anderson was born in Bristol, England, on November 23, 1987. Her mother left the family when she was five, leading Anderson and her younger sister to be raised by their father, Paul. The family relocated to Bradford-on-Avon, and at the age of 10, she experienced significant early life events, including losing her virginity to a neighbour. Around this period, she also faced sexual abuse and engaged in risky behaviours by performing fellatio on men at local pubs in exchange for alcohol and drugs.

Anderson shared that her relationship with her mother was quite unstable, describing her as "in and out of [her] life." Eventually, she was allowed to spend weekends with her mother and sister, but those visits were marked by emotional abuse. Her mother would often buy clothes that were too small on purpose to ridicule her about her weight, which contributed to her struggle with anorexia, in addition to being forced to watch her mother having sex with various men, some of whom began to molest her. Despite these challenges, Anderson expressed feelings of guilt for not reconnecting with her mother after she passed away from cancer. In her younger years, she also worked in a massage parlour.

She developed a passion for musical theatre during her school years, achieving A grades in her performing arts GCSEs. Following that, she enrolled at Bath College and participated in the Bath Light Operatic Group, along with attending various auditions, one of which was for The X Factor.


Career:

Anderson started her journey as an escort during her teenage years and mentioned in September 2022 that she had been intimate with approximately 80,000 individuals, including experiences like group sex. She made her entry into the adult film industry in 2017, featuring in three lesbian scenes for Fake Taxi. Following that, she appeared in a scene for Reality Kings titled "Air Jordi" alongside Jordi El Niño Polla, and took part in a cuckold-themed video for Brazzers. Her work also includes collaborations with various studios such as DDF Network, Wicked Pictures, and Evil Angel, where she engaged in a range of scenes including anal, double penetration, gangbangs, and bukkake. Additionally, she shared insights about her porn series during an appearance on Calum McSwiggan's podcast. Anderson has also maintained an OnlyFans page, where she shares video content, and operates a joint page called "F**king Explorers" with her partner, ex-Crystal Palace footballer Oliver Spedding.

In May 2021, Anderson shared on Twitter her decision to part ways with Rebecca More, leading to an indefinite break for the Cock Destroyers. Between 2022 and 2023, she participated in the sex education quiz show Fucking Smart alongside Willam Belli and various other drag queens and guests. Additionally, she was featured on various podcasts where she discussed her life and career in the adult film industry, including The Fellas and Anything Goes with James English.


Personal Life & Death:

Anderson was a proud member and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, identifying as openly pansexual. As a mother, she faced challenges, including overcoming a cocaine addiction that began with a former boyfriend. Anderson was resolute in her decision to quit after becoming pregnant while living in a drug-influenced environment.

In the 2019 United Kingdom general election, Anderson publicly stated that she voted for the Labour Party.

She gained attention for her notable body modifications, including lip fillers and 32J breasts. In March 2022, she faced health issues when her left breast implant became infected with sepsis multiple times and ultimately exploded. To cover her reconstruction surgery costs, she launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised over £10,000. Although she underwent breast reconstruction, it unfortunately became infected again. Anderson kept her followers updated on her condition as it began leaking, and she underwent more reconstruction surgeries the following year.

In 2021, Anderson started dating Oliver Spedding, a former footballer who transitioned into the adult film industry and had three children. On September 10, 2023, Spedding shared several posts on Twitter indicating that Anderson had passed away. Later that day, Rebecca More revealed that she had contacted Suffolk Police, who performed a welfare check on Anderson and confirmed that Spedding's claims were false—the news of Anderson's death was a hoax.

The following day, Spedding was arrested on charges including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, false imprisonment, and sending obscene messages. Over the next month, further concerns for Anderson's welfare emerged, with allegations of abusive behaviour from Spedding, along with serious claims of him having "stabbed and sex trafficked" Anderson.

Tragically, Spedding passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 34 in a Days Inn hotel in Winchester. Both Spedding and Anderson had ingested an overdose of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), and it was determined that he had died accidentally. Prior to his death, Anderson had reached out to emergency services; she was found unconscious and, after being evaluated by a mental health professional, was released three days later into the care of her father, despite her sister raising concerns about her potential suicide risk.

On November 30, 2023, Anderson was discovered deceased in a Travelodge hotel in Basingstoke at the age of 36, just two weeks after Spedding's passing. The following year, an inquest determined her death to be a suicide due to a GHB overdose, revealing that the amount ingested was ten times the lethal dose. A notebook with letters addressed to her family and Spedding was located at the scene.

Rebecca More announced Anderson's death via Instagram on December 4, honouring her as a "bubbly, funny, kind-hearted soul" who was "outrageous on the outside but also so gentle behind closed doors." More reflected on their unique memories together, expressing that Anderson would always have a special place in her heart. Tributes flooded in from numerous members of the LGBTQ+ community, including RuPaul's Drag Race UK finalist Divina de Campo, who commemorated her as "outrageous [...] but incredibly sweet" and recognized her as a steadfast advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, the pornography industry, and the Terrence Higgins Trust, a charity focused on HIV and sexual health, which Anderson had supported. Brazzers referred to her as an "icon who brought so much joy to so many," while Men.com described her as an "ultimate ray of light [...] who embodied the kind of liberation and generosity towards oneself that [everyone] should aspire to."
