About Soma Chhaya
Soma Chhaya Bhatia is a Canadian actress and musician, of Indian decent. She is known for her roles such as Goldi Nahir in the Canadian teen drama TV series Degrassi. She has appeared in both The Next Generation and Next Class editions of the show. She also played Shauzia in the Oscar-nominated film The Breadwinner (2018) as well as the character Danielle in the 2023 comedy film Zoey 102.
Beyond acting, Soma has built a global audience of over four million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where she shares content about manifestation and spirituality.
Her first major role came in the 2014 family film Monkey in the Middle. She played Mara Cruz, one of the film's main protagonists. In 2015, she appeared in the remake horror-thriller film Poltergeist. That same year, she appeared in the TV movie Cheerleader Death Squad as the Indonesian Girl.
Soma Chhaya is estranged from her parents Rajeev Bhatia and Sapna Bhatia as Chhaya and her boyfriend filed lawsuits in Cleveland, Ohio, against her parents, alleging fraud, theft, and bad-faith actions over property transfers. Her parents reside in Canada, while Chhaya grew up in the Toronto area before moving to the United States for her career.
