Anna (aka Poppyseed Dancer) is a San Francisco, CA-based professional ballet dancer, ballet model, artistic/fine art nude model, dance posing coach, and classical pianist. She was born in Ukraine, but identifies as Russian.
She trained as a ballet dancer, and has performed and taught dance posing/form for photography. Some sources mention notable performances (e.g., at venues like what is now the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC), and she cross-trains extensively. She also incorporates yoga, contortion, aerial hoop, and other movement styles.
She began at modelling age seventeen, in Florence, Italy, after being spotted by a painter while heading to ballet class. She modeled in a tutu initially, then expanded into ballet photography with friends and collaborators. Her husband, a photographer, has been a key creative partner.
She became a full-time traveler and freelance model around 2017, doing shoots across the US and Europe. She has visited 25+ countries and often leads or participates in ballet photography workshops.
