About Nicole Coenen

Nicole is a Gulf Islands, BC-based social media influencer, content creator, former videographer/filmmaker, author, and outdoor enthusiast, often called the “lesbian lumberjack of the internet” for her popular wood-chopping videos.
She has a background in filmmaking and documentary work, including studies at Fanshawe College in Ontario, personal training/fitness coaching, and work with environmental and other nonprofits. Her YouTube channel dates to around 2011. During the COVID-19 period, while based in Rossland, BC, and working remotely as a video creator/editor, she began posting wood-chopping content. This grew into a major following focused on axes, woodchopping techniques, outdoor living, fitness, nature, blacksmithing interests, mental health, and LGBTQ+ advocacy.
She has millions of followers across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms. She participates in a local nonprofit wood-chopping group that raises funds for community initiatives, and she published the book Axe in Hand: A Woodchopper’s Guide to Blades, Wood & Fire.
She lives in the Gulf Islands area of British Columbia, after previously living in mountain towns such as in the Kootenays/Rossland area. She has described living a relatively quiet, nature-oriented, introverted lifestyle there while creating content and traveling in coastal and mountain areas of BC, often with her dog Bambi

As of October 2024, Nicole has amassed 2.0 million followers on Instagram and 1.34 million subscribers on her YouTube platform.
