In late-May/early-June of 2024, Reynolds made headlines for allegedly convincing a woman (who said she could not swim) to dive into a lake in Texas, USA and then running away when the woman cried for help. The incident was livestreamed. She has received considerable online backlash as a result of the incident.
Videos of the incident circulated across the internet, documenting the woman saying, "you said it was OK... you told me to jump in," with Reynolds responding "no, I didn't," only to be rebuked by her own friends on video. Later on, Reynolds is heard saying, "dude, she's drowning in the lake," while running from the scene.
The Austin Police Department confirmed it responded to the incident — which occurred on Wednesday, May 29 — but a report was not filed. A spokesperson told a local newspaper in an email the woman in the lake was "provided clothing and a way to get home."
In a separate video, Reynolds claims that, "she's not dead, I didn't make her drown — she wasn't drowning. If you guys actually had a brain, you'd be able to see that she's floating in the water swimming perfectly fine. And she's saying she's drowning because she's on drugs."

Just kidding. I think the reaction to the "drowning" is hyperbole, virtue signaling, cancel mob, etc. I don't think she's evil the way some people are saying, but it's regrettable that social media sometimes leads people to exploit other people's misfortune in pursuit of views.
