Natalia Sokolova comes from a family with a strong academic tradition: her grandfather was a renowned inventor in the Soviet Union. Her mother is a renowned scientist, and shares her father's PhD degree .

She was part of a delegation to Japan as a child of peace , then benefited from a one-month stay in England to improve her English, which then allowed her to win a competition at Moscow State University and then to be part of a student exchange with Springbrook High School in Maryland, in 1993. She then entered the University of Maryland in Baltimore , at the age of 16.

Seriously injured on Halloween at the age of 17, she spent six months in a wheelchair, threatened with paralysis: after prolonged treatment in Moscow, she managed to obtain her degree in Finance and International Business from the University of Maryland in 1998.

While at university, she participated in the Hawaiian Tropics International Swimwear events in Las Vegas , which earned her an offer to pose in Playboy , which became the main reason for her fame. Voted Miss April in 1999, she appeared in various issues of this magazine between 1999 and 2001 .

She has tried her hand at film and television, filling roles that fit her physique. She has lent her image to advertising campaigns, such as that of Miller High Life beer in 2003 .
