About Mutya Buena
Rosa Isabel Mutya Buena is an English singer and songwriter. She is a member of girl group Sugababes, along with Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, and formerly Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen.
With the Sugababes, Buena had four UK number-one singles, an additional six top-ten hits and three multi-platinum albums. After leaving the group in December 2005, she released her debut solo album, Real Girl, in June 2007. The album's title track reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, while the album entered the top ten on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI.
In 2012, Buena and her former Sugababes bandmates confirmed their reunion. The original trio originally opted to release music under the name MKS (Mutya Keisha Siobhan), releasing one single, "Flatline", in 2013. In September 2019, the group officially confirmed their return as Sugababes. In February 2020, Mutya collaborated with London-based production duo Electric Pineapple on the pop track entitled "Black Valentine", which was followed by the UK garage-inspired track "The One" with electronic music-producer duo Ryuken in May 2021. In April 2023, Buena was featured on the electro-house track "All I Own" by Dutch-Filipino DJ Laidback Luke.
Buena is of Irish and Filipina descent.
