About Minami Takahashi

Minami Takahashi (高橋みなみ) is a Japanese singer and idol managed by Ogi Pro. She is best known as a former member of AKB48, where she served as the leader of Team A and the group’s General Manager.

An original member of AKB48, Takahashi was one of the group’s most prominent members and frequently appeared as center in many singles. She ranked in the “Kami 7,” the top seven members of the AKB48 franchise, five times during the annual Senbatsu elections in which she participated. She graduated from the group in April 2016.

For her AKB48 audition, she performed Will by Ayumi Hamasaki. Her hobbies include reading manga and drawing, while her special skill is copying pictures. She loves animals—especially cats—and even runs an Instagram account dedicated entirely to photos of her cat.

Her favorite anime film is Crayon Shin-chan: Calling the Storm! The Battle of the Warring States. Among her favorite artists are flumpool, Aqua Timez, w-inds., and Akina Nakamori. Her favorite colors are black, white, and pink.

She enjoys foods such as katsudon and hamburger steak, while disliking many raw foods including sushi, broccoli, and tomatoes. She is especially fond of katsudon, eating it whenever she wants motivation, and has said that her mother’s katsudon would be her ideal last meal. She reportedly even owns a katsudon year pass for Hotto Motto. To stay healthy, she also eats an apple every day.

Her favorite manga include One Piece and NANA, though she generally enjoys shōnen manga. Alongside Mayu Watanabe and Tomomi Itano, her favorite Dragon Ball character is Son Goku. Her childhood hero was Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.

Takahashi describes herself as stubborn and someone who struggles to give up. She has said that her ideal partner is someone taller than her, funny, and good at managing money. She also likes men who wear suits, especially when they adjust their collars, which she finds “dreamy.”

She is known to be close friends with Atsuko Maeda and Minami Minegishi. On May 1, 2019, she married a non-celebrity man who works for an IT company and is 15 years older than her.
