About Mattie Rogers

Mattie is a Geneva, FL-based decorated American Olympic weightlifter known for her resilience and consistent excellence on the international stage. She began her athletic journey in gymnastics at age two, competing for about a decade before transitioning to cheerleading. At 17, she discovered weightlifting through CrossFit and quickly excelled, entering her first competition after just a year of training. She later graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in exercise science.
Mattie burst onto the international scene in the mid-2010s and established herself as one of the United States' most accomplished female weightlifters. She has earned four silver medals at the World Weightlifting Championships (in the 69 kg, 71 kg, and 76 kg categories across 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022), becoming the first American woman in decades to achieve such sustained success, including medals at multiple consecutive championships.
She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 87 kg class, finishing sixth, and has dominated at the Pan American level with multiple golds and a record number of total medals. Holding U.S. records in the 76 kg category (112 kg snatch, 143 kg clean & jerk, and 255 kg total), she trains with Catalyst Athletics under coach Aimee Anaya Everett and continues to compete strongly into her 30s, adding national titles and Pan American successes in 2025.
Beyond the platform, Rogers is passionate about coaching and giving back to the sport that transformed her life, while also advocating for animal rescue through initiatives like Strength for Strays. She has spoken openly about redefining success around gratitude, health, and joy rather than solely medals or records. Her journey—from a challenging childhood and a viral lifting mishap in her early career to becoming a trailblazer for American women’s weightlifting—embodies perseverance and inspires athletes worldwide.
