About Mary Kay Bergman
Mary Kay Bergman, also credited as Shannen Cassidy) was an acclaimed American voice actress known for voicing nearly all female characters on South Park (1997–1999), the official voice of Disney's Snow White (1989–1999), Daphne Blake in the Scooby-Doo franchise (1997–1999), and roles in Beauty and the Beast, Captain Planet, and more. She was a prolific talent in animation and voice-over, often described as outgoing and beloved.
She died on November 11, 1999, at age 38 in her home in Venice/West Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office officially ruled her death a suicide by self-inflicted shotgun wound (to the head). She suffered privately from severe depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and related fears (including irrational fears about losing her talent), which she hid from family and friends. She left two suicide notes: one for her husband Dino Andrade and one for a close friend, expressing that she could no longer handle her fear and pain. This is consistently reported in reliable sources like Wikipedia, Animation World Network, her husband's public statements, and contemporary news (e.g., People, Entertainment Weekly).
