About Maria Eftimova
Maria Eftimova (often going by Maria on Instagram @maria_eft96 and TikTok @mariaeftimova96) was a vibrant Bulgarian-born travel influencer, adventure enthusiast, structural civil engineer, and University of Salford graduate living in the UK (St Helens area). Born around 1996–1997, she embraced the mountains, extreme sports like snowboarding and surfing, and shared her journeys through stunning hikes, sunrise scrambles (like Crib Goch), and everyday inspiration on her profiles—describing herself as "here to inspire, not impress," with a side adventure page @the.fluff.quest featuring her fluffy companion and epic outdoor vibes.
She was known for her free-spirited energy, love of engineering, board sports, and chasing sunrises in the peaks—her posts captured that joy of living fully, from Welsh mountains to broader adventures, motivating followers to get out and explore.
Tragically, at age 28, Maria passed away on February 22, 2025, after a fatal fall of about 65 feet while scrambling the north ridge of Tryfan mountain in Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), Wales, with a group. An inquest later ruled it an accident—she slipped while attempting to pull herself onto a ledge, suffering severe head injuries. Friends described her as kind, intelligent, selfless, and the definition of "loving life," with tributes highlighting her adventurous heart and the profound loss felt by her family (who repatriated her to Bulgaria) and community.
Her digital footprint—full of mountain magic and positivity—continues to inspire, even as her story reminds us of the risks in the pursuits she loved.
Rest in peace, Maria—your passion for the mountains, adventurous spirit, and beautiful captures live on in every sunrise you chased and every person you motivated. ⛰️🌅💔 MariaEftimova AdventureSeeker #TryfanMemorial
