Laya was born on October 20, 1965 in Kyoto, Japan. She worked as an escort in Japan when only 16 and came over to the United States at age 18 to escort in New York City for wealthy clientele. Her only adult movie was 1984's Oriental Sexpress. The star and focal point of the movie, she performed in three scenes, including an interracial, lesbian, and two threesomes. The Railto Report revealed on their podcast, focusing on one-and-done adult stars, that the woman who played "Asia" in the film, was actually her madame in real life, had financed the movie, and used some of her escorts for the sex roles. Her plan was to make more adult movies, but Oriental Sexpress would be her only film.
