Former AV actress Kurumi Morishita was born on July 29, 1979, in Akita Prefecture. After graduating from a local technical high school, she moved to Tokyo and was working as a cashier at a food company when she was scouted in Shinjuku. She made her debut in 1998 with Ubu. As the first exclusive actress for an independent production company, she quickly drew attention, rising to top-actress status thanks to her slender 164-cm frame, fair, soft skin, and youthful, cute appearance.

Though initial works highlighted her pure image, the content of her performances became increasingly intense as her career progressed. She faced hardcore roles and intense scenes head-on, captivating fans with the sharp contrast between her innocent looks and her performances. Her impact on the industry during the late 1990s and 2000s was so profound that legendary actor Taka Kato described her as the actress who changed his career.

However, as the required scenes became progressively extreme, she chose to end her decade-long career and retired in 2008. She has since completely ruled out any possibility of a comeback.

Following her retirement, Kurumi Morishita has demonstrated her versatile talents as a writer, authoring short stories and autobiographical essays such as It All Starts with Getting Naked. She has also pursued acting, appearing in films including Fund and Squirrel. In her personal life, she is married and the mother of one child. During an appearance on the documentary show The Nonfiction, she shared that she is living a peaceful life with a husband who fully understands her past.

In November 2018, she submitted a request to the AV Human Rights Ethics Organization—a third-party group established to address issues like forced appearances—to halt the sale and distribution of her past works. Explaining her decision, she noted, "Once I realized I had the right, I wanted to exercise it." Speaking as a former top performer, she continues to offer thoughtful commentary on performer rights and structural issues within the industry.
