About Kim Chae-won
Chaewon Kim was born on August 1, 2000, in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea, and grew up with her parents and an older sister, her mother being theater actress Ran-hee Lee. Of South Korean descent, she attended Seoul Poi Elementary School, Guryong Middle School, and Gaepo High School before transferring to Hanlim Multi Art School, graduating in 2019. Known professionally as Chaewon, she shares her birth name with other K-pop artists, like APRIL’s Chae-won Kim, but has no widely documented aliases. She rose to prominence on Mnet’s Produce 48 in 2018, training under Woollim Entertainment for 11 months and finishing 10th with 238,192 votes, securing her role as lead vocalist and dancer in IZONE. She debuted with IZONE on October 29, 2018, with the mini-album ColorIz* and its lead single “La Vie en Rose,” which charted at number 6 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. Chaewon contributed to songwriting for IZONE tracks like “WithOne” and “Slow Journey,” and the group released four Korean EPs, one studio album (BloomIz*, peaking at number 2 on Gaon), and three Japanese albums before disbanding in April 2021.
Joining Source Music, Chaewon debuted as the leader of LE SSERAFIM on May 2, 2022, with members Sakura Miyawaki, Yun-jin Huh, Kazuha Nakamura, Hong Eunchae, and former member Kim Garam. Their debut mini-album Fearless set a record for the highest-selling K-pop girl group debut album in first-day sales, peaking at number 2 on the Circle Album Chart. Subsequent releases, Antifragile (2022) and Unforgiven (2023), both topped the Circle Album Chart, with Antifragile’s title track reaching number 2 on the Circle Digital Chart and Unforgiven featuring a collaboration with Nile Rodgers. Chaewon co-wrote “So Cynical (Badum)” for LE SSERAFIM’s 2025 album HOT, which continued their global success, charting in Japan and South Korea. She also featured on Tori Kelly’s “Spruce” in April 2024, showcasing her vocal versatility. Named a Swarovski ambassador in August 2024, she has appeared in music videos like “Easy” and “Perfect Night,” the latter tied to a Overwatch 2 collaboration.

She has no significant solo YouTube presence. At 5’4” (164 cm) and approximately 92 lbs (42 kg), Chaewon is noted for her delicate, fairy-like appearance, with fans praising her honey-like vocals, dance skills, and resemblance to aespa’s Winter; no details confirm measurements, breast size, surgeries, tattoos, or piercings.
