Kandyse McClure is a South African-born actress best known for her role as Anastasia "Dee" Dualla in the acclaimed science fiction series Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009). After moving to Canada, she initially considered a career in medicine and worked multiple restaurant jobs. However, her life took a turn when her mother encouraged her to audition for a play at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. McClure's portrayal of an 18-year-old South African girl in Valley Song, written by Athol Fugard, was a hit, leading her to be discovered by Canadian actor and director William B. Davis. This connection led her to her first acting agent, Richard Lucas, and launched her professional career​.

Beyond Battlestar Galactica, McClure has appeared in numerous television series and films, including Jeremiah, Persons Unknown, The Client List, and Hemlock Grove.
