About Jessica Biel

Jessica Claire Biel is an American actress, producer, and former model born in Ely, Minnesota, on March 3, 1982. Raised in a nomadic household due to her father's career as an entrepreneur, her family eventually settled in Boulder, Colorado. She trained as a vocalist and classical musical theater performer from age nine, appearing in regional stage productions of "The Sound of Music" and "Beauty and the Beast." She initially broke into the entertainment industry as a child model before transitioning to screen acting, later attending Tufts University for three semesters to study college academics before pivoting back into a full-time Hollywood career.

Her film and television biography covers an extensive array of long-running dramas, iconic horror remakes, and critically praised prestige miniseries. She achieved immediate mainstream fame as a teenager playing Mary Camden, the rebellious eldest daughter of a minister, in the hit family drama series "7th Heaven" from 1996 to 2006. On the big screen, she made her feature debut in the acclaimed drama "Ulee's Gold" in 1997, followed by a leading role in the romantic comedy "Summer Catch" in 2001. Biel secured status as a premier cinematic lead by headlining the horror box office hit "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in 2003, starring in the action film "Blade: Trinity" in 2004, and earning critical praise as Duchess Sophie von Teschen in the period drama "The Illusionist" in 2006. Her subsequent major films included "Next" in 2007, "Valentine's Day" in 2010, the action remake "Total Recall" in 2012, and "The Book of Love" in 2016. She achieved a major career pinnacle when she transitioned into production, executive-producing and starring as Cora Tannetti in the dark mystery anthology series "The Sinner" in 2017, a performance that earned her Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominations. She went on to produce and headline the Facebook Watch drama series "Limetown" in 2019 and earned further acclaim by starring as Candy Montgomery in the Hulu true-crime miniseries "Candy" in 2022. More recently, she led the thriller feature film "The Good Daughter" in 2025 and signed on to produce and headline the psychological thriller series "The Last Housewife" in 2026.

While she does not possess a traditional commercial music discography or a solo pop career, her vocal training has allowed her to contribute to musical cinema. She recorded several prominent musical numbers for the soundtrack of the satirical romantic comedy film "Easy Virtue" in 2008, including a rendition of "Mad About the Boy" and "When the Going Gets Tough." She also showcased her musical background on television, voicing the character Brooke in the animated musical comedy special "Pete the Cat: A Very Groovy Christmas" in 2018.

Personal information regarding her family centers on her high-profile marriage to pop superstar Justin Timberlake. The couple began dating in early 2007, married in a private ceremony in Fasano, Italy, on October 19, 2012, and share two sons named Silas Randall and Phineas. She is the eldest child of Kimberly and Jonathan Biel, growing up alongside her younger brother Justin, who launched an eco-friendly accessories line. Outside of her screen work, Biel is a passionate wellness advocate, co-founding a family-focused health brand, and dedicating significant time to environmental charities focused on expanding global clean water access.

Throughout her transition from a wholesome television daughter to an elite Hollywood producer, Biel has remained remarkably candid about her work ethic and reclaiming her narrative behind the camera. A notable quote regarding her evolution as a creative producer highlights her professional outlook: "For a long time, the industry only saw me in a certain light based on how I looked or the characters I played when I was younger, but stepping into production allowed me to build my own tables instead of waiting for an invitation." Reflecting on her approach to portraying complex, intensely flawed women in modern psychological thrillers, she famously observed: "There is something incredibly liberating about playing women who are messy, unraveling, and completely unconventional. The characters who are struggling to maintain their sanity under immense pressure are always the ones that feel the most human and authentic to explore."
