Jennifer Ann Agutter OBE is a British actress whose career has spanned from child stardom to acclaimed adult film roles and long-running television success. Born in Taunton, Somerset, in 1952, she began her career as a child actress starting in 1964 in films such as East of Sudan and Star! before becoming widely known as Roberta "Bobbie" Waterbury in two adaptations of The Railway Children —the BBC's 1968 television serial and the 1970 film version - establishing Jenny as one of Britain's most recognizable young performers.

She soon moved into more mature and internationally noted work, including Nicolas Roeg’s Walkabout, the television film The Snow Goose, Logan’s Run, Equus, and An American Werewolf in London.

Agutter won a Primetime Emmy for The Snow Goose and a BAFTA Award for her supporting performance in Equus. In later decades, she became familiar to a new generation as Sister Julienne on Call the Midwife, bringing warmth, steadiness, and moral intelligence to one of the series’ central roles. Beyond acting, Agutter has also been recognized for charitable work, including her support of cystic fibrosis causes, and was appointed OBE in 2012.
