About Janae Sergio

Janae is a San Antonio,TX-based U.S. Navy combat veteran, bestselling author, model, entrepreneur, social media influencer, and veterans’ advocate.
She experienced homelessness as a teenager (around age 15–16) after being dropped off at a shelter in Hollywood; she avoided risks including drug involvement and trafficking attempts before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at 18.
She served eight years of active duty, including logistics/combat support roles and a significant deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom aboard the USS John C. Stennis, among the first forward-deployed after 9/11. She earned dual warfare certifications and multiple Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
After leaving active duty (around 2008), she used the GI Bill to earn a bachelor’s degree in business management and transitioned to civilian federal service. Roles have included positions with the Navy and later Chief of Air Force Lodging.
Janae shares modeling photos (including pin-up style), was a Maxim Cover Girl semifinalist in 2018, and served as Miss April 2020 for the Pin-Ups for Vets calendar,a nonprofit supporting troops. She has built a large online following.
She owns the Perfectly Flawed fashion boutique, empowering women and supporting causes. She is a #1 bestselling author of Perfectly Flawed: A Veteran’s Journey from Homeless to Hero and DD-214 Warrior: The Advocate’s Battle Plan. She works as a speaker, coach, and brand elevator.
Janae is active in veterans’ issues (including military sexual trauma/MST survivors, suicide prevention, and related legislation). Roles include Director of Development at the Grunt Style Foundation, involvement with VFW Post 76 (San Antonio; previously Junior/Senior Vice Commander), and other veteran nonprofits. She has been featured in outlets like Fox News, Military Times, We Are the Mighty, and Daily Mail.
