About Helena Costa
Maria Helena de Melo e Costa, known only as Helena Costa, is a portuguese actress and former model who was born on August 3rd, 1982 in Santo Tirso, Porto district, Portugal.
Before becoming a model and actress, Helena spent all her childhood in Vizela, a village located a few kilometres away of GuimarĂŁes, while her youth was lived between the small town of Figueira da Foz and the portuguese city of Coimbra.
She is better known for her character "MĂłnica Mello e Teixeira" the popstar and main villain of the third season of the TV series "Morangos com AçĂșcar", previously broadcast between September 2005 until September 2006 in the portuguese fourth generalist TV channel, TVI.
And also for her big participations, as an actress, in other different Portuguese telenovelas, also previously broadcast in the portuguese fourth television channel, TVI, such as "Doce Fugitiva" (2006-2007), "Feitiço de Amor" (2008-2009), "Anjo Meu" (2011-2012), "Mundo ao ContrĂĄrio" (2013-2014), "Santa BĂĄrbara" (2015-2016), "A Herdeira" (2017-2018) and "Amar Demais" (2020-2021), as well as in two television series like "Ele Ă© Ela" (2009),"37" (2010), besides the telefilm to celebrate the first centenary of the implantation of the republican regime in Portugal, "RepĂșblica" (2010) and the first season of the TV series "Ăgua de Mar" (2014), all broadcast in the first TV channel of public service, RTP1.
In order to integrate the main cast of the TV series "Morangos Com AçĂșcar", she decided to interrupt her degree in Sports, namely in Physical Fitness and Health, at the LusĂłfona University of Technologies and Humanities located in Lisbon, Portugal. When she first learned about the character she would play in the third season of the youth TV series "Morangos com AçĂșcar" ("MĂłnica Mello e Teixeira"), and saw the clothes she would have to wear, she was afraid but also said that "I quickly got used to that".
In terms of sporty activities, in real life, she also likes to practice kitesurf and bodyboard.
Helena Costa dated with Diogo Machado da Silva Pereira Coutinho, the youngest son of businessman Vasco Pereira Coutinho, between 2013 until 2015, then with the dental surgeon, LuĂs Pereira da Silva, in 2016 until breaking up their relationship in April 2017.
She also dated the businessman Frederico Formigal and they got marry in a civil cerimony on July 23rd, 2018. In 2019, Helena Costa and Frederico Formigal became parents of two little girls whose names are Mercedes and Maria do Mar, who were born in July 2019, in Lisbon.
