Hailee Steinfeld is an American actress and singer who has built a career across film, television, and pop music. She was born December 11, 1996, in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California, and was raised in nearby Thousand Oaks. She began acting professionally as a child before breaking through in Hollywood as a teenager.

Steinfeld's major breakthrough came with the Coen brothers' 2010 western True Grit. At only 13, she played Mattie Ross opposite Jeff Bridges and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently appeared in movies including Romeo & Juliet, Ender's Game, Begin Again, The Edge of Seventeen and Pitch Perfect 2. She also became part of the Transformers franchise with Bumblebee. More recently, she starred alongside Michael B. Jordan in the 2025 film Sinners. Steinfeld expanded into television and voice acting as well. She starred as Emily Dickinson in Apple TV+'s Dickinson and became particularly well known to younger audiences for voicing Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel. She also voices Vi in the animated series Arcane.

Steinfeld's music career grew out of her acting success. After appearing in Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015, she released her debut EP, Haiz, that same year. Its breakout single "Love Myself" introduced her as a pop artist in her own right. She followed with songs including "Starving" with Zedd and Grey, "Let Me Go" with Alesso and Florida Georgia Line, and "I Love You's." Her second EP, Half Written Story, arrived in 2020. She also released singles such as "Coast" featuring Anderson .Paak in 2022 and "Sunkissing" in 2023.

Steinfeld's relationship with Josh Allen, the NFL quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, became public in 2024 after they had reportedly begun dating in 2023. They announced their engagement in November 2024 and married in California on May 31, 2025. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Harper, in 2026.
