About Erica Blasberg
Erica Blasberg was an American professional golfer on the LPGA Tour. She passed away at age 25.
She died on May 9, 2010, in her home in Anthem/Henderson, Nevada (near Las Vegas). The Clark County coroner's office officially ruled her death a suicide on August 24, 2010. The primary cause was asphyxia (she was found with a plastic bag over her head), with toxic levels of multiple prescription drugs cited as a significant contributing factor. No alcohol was involved. This is well-documented in mainstream sources like Wikipedia, ESPN, Golf Channel, and news reports from the time.
There was surrounding controversy: A doctor (Dr. Thomas Hess) who found her removed a suicide note and some medications, leading to obstruction charges (he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor), and her family filed (but lost) a wrongful death/malpractice suit against him. No foul play was suspected in her death itself.
