About Emily Hopkins
Emily Hopkins is a professional electroacoustic harpist, composer, and YouTuber based in Long Island, New York. She graduated from the Muse Scholar Program of CUNY Hunter College with bachelor's degrees in Music Performance and Media Studies. A classically trained musician with over two decades of experience, she performed with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall in 2009 and became a member of MTA Music Under New York in 2012, busking in subway stations.
Now known as EmilyHarpist, she has gained a large online following—her main YouTube channel has amassed around 750,000 subscribers—by innovatively blending traditional harp playing with modern music technology, including guitar effect pedals, modular synths, and sound manipulation. She collaborates closely with her partner Russ Fro, a professional audio engineer and composer, from their studio in Long Island. Her credits include featured harp performances on the soundtrack for Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws (2024) and DreamWorks' Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023), as well as composition work for films, video games, and art installations. She currently serves as artist-in-residence at the Pollock-Krasner House in East Hampton.
