Dominique Thorne is an American actress born on November 5, 1997, in New York City, New York. Raised in the borough of Brooklyn by Trinidadian immigrant parents, she grew up in a household deeply rooted in Caribbean culture and academics. She attended the Professional Performing Arts High School in Manhattan, where she studied dramatic arts and excelled to such a high degree that she was named a National YoungArts Winner and a United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2015. Despite her burgeoning passion for performance, Thorne chose to pursue a rigorous Ivy League education, attending Cornell University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development in 2019. 

Her film and television biography launched during her university years and rapidly ascended into major Hollywood blockbusters. She made her feature film debut as Sheila Hunt in Barry Jenkins' critically acclaimed, Oscar-winning romantic drama "If Beale Street Could Talk" in 2018. Shortly after graduating college, she solidified her dramatic credentials by portraying Black Panther Party member Judy Harmon in the biographical crime drama "Judas and the Black Messiah" in 2021. Thorne achieved massive international recognition and her commercial breakthrough when Marvel Studios cast her as Riri Williams, the genius teenage inventor who builds her own super-suit, debuting the character in the cinematic blockbuster "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" in 2022. She went on to headline the character's standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe series, starring as the titular hero in the Disney+ superhero miniseries "Ironheart" in 2025. Her subsequent major credits include starring in the genre-bending anthology feature film "Freaky Tales" in 2024, and expanding her portfolio into mainstream television by headlining a season of the legal drama series "All's Fair" in 2026. She also returned to her stage roots by making her Broadway debut in the critically praised ensemble production "Jaja's African Hair Braiding" in 2023. 

While she does not possess a traditional commercial music discography or a solo pop career, her voice has been featured across high-profile media soundtracks. It was an straight-to-series offer, which taught me that when you put your head down and focus entirely on the truth of the craft, the work will eventually speak for itself."
