Dolores is most famous for being the girlfriend of the notorious low-budget sci fi, horror and crime film director Ed Wood. She also appeared in several of Wood’s films: “Glen or Glenda” (1953), “Jail Bait” (1954) and “Bride of the Monster” (1955).

She also appeared in the non-Ed Wood films “Outlaw Women” (1952), “Body Beautiful” (1953), “Mesa of Lost Women” and several other 1950s films.

In the late 1990s Dolores briefly resumed her acting career, appearing in the low budget horror films “The Ironbound Vampire” (1997) and “Dimensions of Fear” (1998).

She made several television appearances as well. Appearing on “Queen for a Day”, “It’s a Great Life” and “The Dinah Shore Show”.

Dolores was also a songwriter. She wrote the song “Rock-A-Hula Baby” for the 1961 Elvis Presley film, “Blue Hawaii”. Elvis would go on to record a dozen more of Dolores’s songs, including “I Got Lucky”, “Cindy, Cindy” and “Spinout”. The latter song appearing on the soundtrack from the 1966 film of the same name. She also had songs recorded by other artists such as Nat “King” Cole and Peggy Lee.

Dolores was married twice. Her first marriage was to Donald Fuller. They were married in 1941 and had two children together before divorcing in 1955. In 1988 she married Philip Chamberlin. They were married until Dolores’s death from a stroke in 2011.
