Chasey Lain, born Tiffany Anne Nagy on December 7, 1971, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, grew up in a middle-class family with little documented about her early life or education. Raised in Florida, she developed an interest in performing arts through high school dance and cheerleading. In her late teens, she began exotic dancing in local clubs. She was working as a stripper in Florida and took note of the kinds of money porn actresses made when they appeared for short dancing engagements. Eventually, Alexis DeVell helped convince her to head west and go for the big bucks, which is exactly what she did.

But when she returned in 2004, though, she had developed an addiction to crack cocaine, meth, and heroin. Her once supermodel looks were gone, and she had even lost teeth to her addiction. Fans were worried about her health. She overdosed in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2004 and later would OD again in 2008. She would apparently get clean sometime after leaving porn. Although fans eagerly await for her to make a comeback on Onlyfans, she has kept a low profile since 2014.

She was the subject of the 2000 song The Ballad of Chasey Lain by the Bloodhound Gang. Lain was supposed to star in the video, but she didn't show up, and several other pornstars were used. Lead singer Jimmy Pop then trashed her saying she had arms hairier than him and was dumb as a table. In 2023, Pop said he regretted saying that and apologized to Lain, saying that he was "butthurt" since she didn't show up for the video shoot. He said she was actually sweet and bubbly the times they hung out and was enthusiastic about the song. He blamed their management at the time for the miscommunication with Lain and said he wished they could have worked something out since he wanted to use Lain as the cover for their 1999 album Hooray for Boobies, similarly to how Blink-182 had used Janine Lindemulder on the cover for their album Enema of the State.

Lain is often called the most classically beautiful woman ever to do adult films and she often ranks high in any poll based on looks and sexiness for a porn actress. Former porn actor Randy West said Lain was too beautiful for adult movies and she knew it which made her diffcult to work with. "She should have been a model or actress, and everyone always told her that. So is someone like that going to be happy sucking dicks and getting fucked in the ass? No one is so you start to kill yourself with drugs." West would say in a Roger T. Pipe interview. West also alluded to Lain's ego for the reason she was usually shut out from winning awards despite being the biggest star of the era, along with Jenna Jameson. West said, "This business is a popularity contest, and she wasn't popular with the people in it. That is why she never won performer of the year. Hell, she was never even nominated despite 12 to 15 girls getting a nomination each year in that category. That was intentional despite the money she made the business."

Lain was married to adult industry professional Gary Nagy from 1993 to 1997, and they occasionally worked together. After their divorce, she had a long-term relationship with a non-industry partner, but details remain private. No children are documented as of 2025, and she kept her personal life out of the spotlight.

As of June 30, 2025, Chasey Lain lives a private life in Florida. She has no active social media presence, with fan-run X accounts occasionally posting nostalgic content.
